FET (Frozen Embryo Transfer)

A frozen embryo transfer is an IVF treatment where frozen embryos from previous cycle are thawed and transferrred back into a womans uterus. This means that the woman wont take hormones to produce eggs like normal IVF.

Frozen embryo cycles can be undertaken on your natural cycle or using hormone preparation to prepare the endometrium to receive the embryos.

Why do we Freeze Embryos?

During an IVF cycle usually  the woman produces many eggs so quite often we have enough good quality embryos for embryo transfer and for freezing .

Also if there is an increased risk for ovarian hyperstimulation we prefer to freeze all the embryos and transfer them in another cycle.

Benefits of Embryo Freezing

Embryo freezing gives you more opportunities for a pregnancy for each hormone stimulation and oocyte retrieval.

Success Rates

The success rates of frozen embryo transfer are equal to the fresh embryo transfer. However success rates depend on many individual factors like quality of embryos ,quality of the endometrium ,woman’s age and others.
